We had a great time on Eigg and the cabin was cosy and comfortable,everything you needed was there.Lovely wood burner, nice porch where you could sit and enjoy the views and dry your wet gear. Sue and Neil were great hosts and there when you needed them also their dog Peggie who was great company.
We had a wonderful stay of four nights at the cabin. Of our trip to Scotland, our time on Eigg in the cabin is what our kids have identified as the favorite part of the trip. It was small but very functional for the four of us (two parents, a 7yo and 9yo). The kitchen worked very well for making meals, the little porch accommodated wet footwear as well as providing a place to sip tea while looking at the bay and the cliffs.
We had a little trouble with the fireplace, both getting the wood to burn cleanly and with winds off the pay sometimes pushing smoke down into the cabin. That was really our only complaint, though. You do have to get used to the composting toilet, but that was a minor thing as it was very well designed and had almost no odor at all.
A wonderful stay in the cabin. Aside from the fantastic location, it was clean, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. The perfect place to come back to after a day out hiking, cycling or a sea dip! The shower room was a welcome addition and we were very grateful for the help with our bags at arrival/departure. Thank you!
Three of us stayed in the Kelpie Cabin for 2 nights to enjoy the north of Eigg. It was a great stay, ideal location for exploring the Singing Sands and walking around the north part of the island. Coming home to a warm, comfortable cabin made being out in the rain more bearable!
Sue was a fantastic host, collecting our bags from the ferry so we could enjoy the walk up, waiting for us to collect supplies from the shop, and then even giving us a lift back so we had a bit of extra time before the ferry to see around Galmisdale.
Kelpie Cabin is everything it promises to be, and Sue and Neil are very thoughtful and flexible hosts. It’s remarkably spacious and the wood burning stove is really effective. All in a stunning location…….!!
